NCAA Bowl Officials 

Former KCOA members Dave Curschman and Kevin Matthews were the Back Judge and Umpire, respectively, for the Mountain West Conference officiating crew that worked the Sheraton Hawaii Bowl played Dec. 24 in Honolulu. SMU ramped over Nevada, 45-10 in the game. Curschman is a former KCOA Football instructor. The two primarily work the Mountain West Conference, but have done WAC and Pac-10 games in their Div. I careers.

Football official assigned State Championship Game

Dennis Matthews, a 25+ year member of the football unit, becomes the first KCOA official to be named to work a State CIF Football Championship Game on Dec. 19-20 at the Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif. Dennis will be the referee for either the small schools or Div. 1 final on Friday, Dec. 19. Dennis will be one of only 25 officials from hundreds throughout the state to get this distinction. Dennis was nominated by the Co-Instructors based on a strict set of qualification criteria established by the State CIF. Credit must be given to Central Section CIF south area commissioner Bill VerHeul and Central Section Commissioner Jim Crichlow for advocating for officials from the Central Section.
